2021

July

Reminders:

  • Begin planning for fall recruitment season 
  • Identify which schools/areas will be targeted  
  • Recruit additional volunteers/troops for events 
  • Invite troops associated with event location to attend
  • Map out a  plan using the for each event (Girl Talks, flyers, stickers, bracelets etc...) 
  • Discuss strategy based on previous year’s efforts and results


August

Important dates:

August 14, 2021 Membership Kick off

Meet the Teacher and Open House events

First day of School 


Reminders:

  • Begin finding recruitment event locations and getting approvals from schools (ie: superintendents, principals, etc.)
  • Obtain list of upcoming Open House/Meet the Teacher dates
  • Set the date with the school/venue
  • Ensure the appropriate paperwork is completed for venue reservation, if necessary
  • Determine if there are any existing troops associated with planned event location (These troops are often willing and can be asked to help at recruitment events)
  • Obtain recruitment materials from your Community Engagement Manager (C.E.M.)
  • Let your CLT, CST and Community know about scheduled events
  • Ask for volunteers to assist at recruitment events


September

Sept. 22 See You At the Pole

 Reminders:

  • Ensure that Girl Scouts has a sign-up table at available Open House/Meet the Teacher events and proper volunteer/staff support
  • Hold events at schools that will allow a Girl Scout recruitment event
  • Begin building relationships with non-partnering schools
  • Market all recruitment events


October

Important Dates:

Oct. 1 Official Start of the Girl Scout Membership year

Oct. 11 International Day of the Girl 

Oct. 31 Juliette Low birthday

Fall Product Sale 

Reminders:

  • Have a sign-up table/informational booth at school fall events.
  • Ensure that Girl Scouts has a sign-up table at available Open House events and proper volunteer/staff support
  • Continue holding sign-up events at schools that have not been touched
  • Hold off-site events for schools that will not allow events to be held on campus
  • Roster Specialist, Placement Liaison and Recruitment Team Lead (Check-ins: Webinar/Calls)
  • Host Need a Troop Leader Meetings for girls needing placement


November 

Important dates:

November 12- 14 Fall Volunteer Conference  

Reminders:

  • Continue holding events at any schools that have not had a recruitment event
  • Begin planning the winter recruitment season
  • Assess Community’s current enrollment and recruitment goal
  • Host a  “Need a Troop Leader” as needed



December

Important Dates

Dec. 1-12 12 Days of Girl Scouts

Reminders:

  • Girl Scout offices closed between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
  • Continue holding events at any schools that have not been touched
  • Host holiday themed recruitment events
  • Contact religious institutions to discuss GSSJC's faith based options
  • Hold “Need a Troop Leader” and as needed

January

Important dates:

Jan. 20 Martin Luther King Jr. Parade

Reminders:

  • Cookie Sale Begins
  • Continue holding events at any schools that have not been touched
  • Contact religious institutions to discuss GSSJC's faith based program and host a recruitment event
  • Identify potential Recruitment Champions


February

Important dates:

Feb. 14 Galentines Day events

Feb. 22 World Thinking Day

Reminders:

  • Begin planning for Spring Recruitment Season
  • Assess Community’s current enrollment and recruitment goal
  • Use World Thinking Day as a recruitment event
  • Black History Month
  • Continue holding sign-up events at schools that have not been touched
  • Consider hosting a "Galentines" or themed recruitment event
  • Contact religious institutions to discuss GSSJC’s faith based options
  • Registrar, Community Organizer and Recruitment Team Lead (Check-ins: Webinar/Calls)


March

Important dates:

March 6-12  Girl Scout Week

March 6 Girl Scout Sunday

March 12  Girl Scout Birthday

March 12 Girl Scout Sabbath

Reminders:

  • Submit Recruitment Team Lead appointments
  • Celebrate the Girl Scout Birthday with a Bring a Friend Event
  • Contact schools for Kinder Round Up/ registration dates
  • Obtain event location approval via superintendents /principals 
  • Hold events at religious institutions.


April

Reminders:

  • Volunteer Appreciation Week
  • Transition with incoming Recruitment Team Lead
  • Continue holding Taste of Girl Scouting events within the community
  • Hold Kinder Round Up/registration events


May

Important Dates:

May 5 Cinco de Mayo parade

Reminders:

  • Hold Kinder Round Up/registration events
  • Continue holding Taste of Girl Scouting events within the community


June

Reminders:

  • Consider holding events at day cares and summer programs throughout the month
  • Visit school and district administration with thank you gifts
  • Begin discussing fall recruitment date
